Everything heavy falls.

That is not a threat; it is a fact, and facts are where we prefer to begin.

Read the manifesto

There is an hour, late, after the city has stopped performing for itself, when you can hear exactly what a thing is worth. We built the bureau in that hour, and we have kept its hours since.

For a generation the work was made in one place and the credit was kept in another. The people who actually make the culture, the artist at two in the morning, the stylist with a vision and twelve euros, the kid composing the whole thing on a cracked screen, were treated as material. Seen, used, renamed. The image was theirs; the value went elsewhere. We were told this was simply how the industry saw. We came to think it was a way of not seeing at all.

To refuse that is not to burn anything down. It is only to look straight at it. The rebel, said the man who thought longest about rebellion, is the one who finally says no, and in the same breath says yes to something worth defending. We say no to the work made invisible. We say yes to the people who made it.

We are named for a man who spent half his life behind a door that would not open, and who, from inside it, wrote about the stars. Blanqui understood that even the heavens are held by gravity, that nothing, however bright, floats forever. Not empires. Not institutions. Not the large invoice for the evening no one remembers. We have made our peace with the falling. We only intend to choose the ground.

So this is what we hold. That culture is made from below and must be paid downward. That the work is the only argument, and everything else is theatre. That the few who are ready will always outlast the many who are loud. That restraint is the loudest thing in a room, monochrome, nocturnal, unhurried. That we answer to the work, and to the names we carry, and to no one standing above them.

Something was being prepared. It was us.

The bureau is open. Everything heavy falls, and we have chosen the ground.
